One of the easiness that technology provides for parent is The Baby Monitor. We (parent) sometimes need to leave our baby to do other house chores. Therefore a baby monitor is a very helpful device to always monitor our baby while doing other things that are not in the same room as the baby but still in the house. We can turn this thing on while the baby sleep, and when the baby is awake we’ll know.

There are two kinds of baby monitors, the simplex and the duplex. The simplex baby monitor is unidirectional, it means we can hear and see the baby but the baby can’t hear ours. The duplex baby monitor or bi-directional or works two ways, we can hear and see the baby as well as the baby can hear us. The old model call the baby monitor but nowadays it’s call the video baby monitor, like the explanation above, because it’s equipped with small LCD monitor for the parents side and similar to web cam on the baby side.

The latest model is wireless baby monitor. They use radio frequencies instead of a long cable. The user can also choose the frequency to avoid other user pick our frequency. The devices use the frequency in the range of 49-50 megahertz, but some other models can have a high frequency as high as 900 MHz. For the baby side, it has a socket so that it can be attach to the baby crib bed, but still out of the reach of the baby. For the parent side it has a socket as well, so it can be attach to parent’s cloth to carry it around or just put it a side near the parent.

Some of these video baby monitors have other features like, music player, movement sensor, heartbeat monitor, and baby breathing monitor.

Sterilize all baby bottles before using them are very important because babies don’t have the immune system like the big children or adults have. Therefore you must be certain that the method you are using is the correct one to completely clean all the germs in a baby bottle. If you are using breast milk to feed your baby, then you need to sterilize parts of breast pump too.

There are four ways to sterilize baby bottle:

1. Boiling the bottles. This is the traditional and the oldest way. To sterilize baby bottles at least you need to boil them for ten minutes. After that you need to dry them up well first before using them or store them.
2. Second way is by using microwave. Make sure that you use a special kind of baby bottle which is the microwave safe baby bottle. You need to rinse them first from the all the left over milk, then put it in the microwave for about 90 seconds. All microwaves can be used to sterilize baby bottles. This way is the most convenient and faster for parents.
3. The third way is by using cold water sterilizing. In this case you need to add a special kind of solution to the water. This solution functioned is to kill all the germs there are in the bottle or in the water. Make sure that all of baby bottle parts are soak well in the water and there are no bubbles in the bottle. Some parents don’t like this method because it takes more time than the other three methods. Well, it takes about 40 minutes until the solution works well killing all the germs.
4. The last method is by using baby bottle sterilizer or sometimes it called the baby steamer sterilizer, because the steam is the tool used to kill all the germs in baby bottle or pump breast parts, or even baby toys like teether. This steamer has a timer and it will stop by itself when the time is up, it could save a lot of trouble for parents off course.

A newborn baby cannot sit on his/her own yet, so baby seat is not necessary. But when a baby reaches 3 months old and higher, s/he can sit on a baby seat.

There are many variety of baby seats base on the purposes, examples: baby car seat, baby high chair, baby bath chair, baby bouncer.

The purpose of a high chair is a baby can have the same height as the grown-up. High chair normally used for meal time. So it is used when the baby starts to have a meal, 6 months and up. In that time a baby can learn to eat by her/him self by observing other people eat. Make sure you buy a strong, firm and secure high chair for your baby safeties. Always let your baby close to you to avoid from falling down, especially with older babies, because their intuition to explore almost everything, might cause them danger.

Baby Bath chair is used of course to sit your baby down in bath time. It can be used for 2 months old baby and up. The positive side of using this chair for bathing is you can shower your baby instead of bathing him/her. Well it’s an optional, which you would prefer. This baby bath chair is suitable only for 2-9 months old baby, because this chair is considered not safe anymore for older babies, as they grow stronger and they move a lot. This chair can be used also just to sit around.

Bouncer is a baby seat that can bounce. It moves when the baby moves too. It’s safe because it has a seat belt but considered not safe for older babies. It has some toys hanging in front of it. This seat is usually used just to sit the baby while playing around or just watch TV, or in feeding time for some baby who have difficulty in eating, to distract their mind away from food.

Car seat is the most expensive one among baby seats, because of it function, to make a safe travel with your baby. Car seat is used for 3 months old baby and up, at that age a baby is strong enough to sit on a chair until a child with 13 kg weight, at that weight a child is considered able to sit up straight and use the car seat belt. Make sure it is comfortable, especially for a long travel, easy to plug it in (read the instruction manual). If you buy a second hand one, make sure it is still in good condition in all parts, because all the package concern your baby safeties.
