How to Choose a Baby Crib

Baby crib is an ideal baby bedding, at least until s/he is a year or one and a half years old. Whether it’s a new or secondhand, a crib or made from wood, plastics, or other materials, its strength and durability is important for the sake of our baby safeties. If you choose a standard crib or even more expensive one such as the convertible, the 3 in 1 crib, or portable crib which is easy to be moved around, especially for traveling, you should take a good look at the functions and all the fasteners that should be in place such as bolts and screws.

Make sure you put the crib in the right spot to avoid any baby injury such as falling off the crib, playing with dangerous stuff such as electricity cable and stuff or catching a cold because putting the baby crib too close to the windows or ventilators.

The use of blankets are not necessary and not recommended because the number incidents happened during baby sleep (SIDS-sudden infant death syndrome). So if you have to use blankets, make sure it’s tight to the baby body or tuck it tightly under the mattress. Don’t put the blanket above the baby chest to avoid suffocating when the blanket start to loose and went over his or her head.

Another thing that you should take a good look is the condition of the mattress, comfortable for the baby and fit snugly and properly into the crib. It’s wiser to buy new mattress, for the health reason. It’s ok to put up the mattress if s/he still newborn, during the diaper change or cloth change, but it’s safer to lower the mattress to prevent the baby from falling off the crib when s/he gets bigger and stronger. After all, the crib it self should be designed with standard baby safeties.

Baby bedding comes with different types, shapes, and colors depending on the furniture itself. The best fabric for bedding would be cotton, which well known for its softness and coziness. You can even choose some themes for baby girl or boy, for example Princess theme for baby girl and a super hero cartoon for baby boy.

Different types of nursery bedding are crib bedding, bassinet bedding, cradle bedding, and blankets are complementary.

For crib bedding, you can choose according to its price and the design, but the most important is to choose a crib which has the most safety values. A crib is suitable for baby and a child under two-years-old.

Cradle bedding is most likely the crib, but it rocks. Some considers it’s a luxurious baby furniture, but it all depends on your budget for the baby, considering its only use for a short time. A cradle bedding is suitable only for newborn and under six-months-old baby.

Other considered luxurious baby furniture is newborn baby bassinet, and it’s use also only for  under-six-months baby. The difference between the bassinet and a cradle is the bassinet stationed and the cradle rocks.

The most important thing when you’re buying a crib, a bassinet or a cradle is you need to follow the use instructions, for the sake of the baby safeties.

Usually the crib set or the bassinet set or the cradle set come with the little pillow and bolsters, and also the blanket. But the use of a blanket for baby is not recommended, because it’s potentially cause suffocation.

After all choose a baby bedding set that is suitable and comforting  your baby the most.

The basic nursery furniture you will probably need is baby bedding set, changing table and a chest or dresser. For those three items, you should find a matched one, the type, design and color. For baby bedding you will need a crib. The most economize one is the 3 in 1 baby crib set because it can be converted to a toddler bed and then to a full size child bed. It’s very unique and easy to use. But other than the 3 in 1 crib there are a various kinds of crib, if you want to look by its colors, designs, and also prices, it’s all up to you, you just need to take a look at the function it self and at your budget.

Changing table are use to put your newborn baby when you need to change his/her cloth or diaper. Usually underneath the table, there are selves so you can put anything there like a stack of diapers, baby clothes, and baby cosmetics. Make sure the table is stationed or if they had wheels make sure you can lock them up for your baby safeties.

The next basic nursery furniture you will need is a chest or baby dresser. A baby dresser should have many drawers, so you can put baby stuff separately between clothes, bed sheets, baby cosmetics, diapers, and other accessories. This baby dresser is very useful to put all the gifts during the baby shower.

Other considered nursery furniture is a rocking chair, not for the baby but for the mother. While a mother breastfeed or just cuddle the baby, she could sit on it and sing for the baby. But a usual chair would be enough if you have limited budget.
